The festival is mainly organized by dedicated volunteers who meet regularly throughout the year in plenary sessions and small groups. We are a fairly young team and open to all film enthusiasts who want to get involved. Every year, we look for new people who want to help shape the festival.
Joining us – that is:
- going on an excursion to the Berlin Film Festival where you can take part in networking meetings and queer pitches and watch films until your eyes pop out—films that often don’t even make it into the program selection of cinemas or streaming portals.
- actively shaping the festival program.
- watching countless unreleased queer films.
- participating in fun team events and becoming part of the queer community.
- voting for our queer animal of the year.
- learning how to create subtitles yourself.
- interacting with our sweet audience as a social media and press contact.
- running free for the venues’ decoration shortly before the festival.
- meeting super exciting and appreciative filmmakers from all over the world.
- and much more—the festival is what we make of it!
Association
The non-profit association queerfilm e.V. is the organizer of qff and provides the legal basis for the volunteers’ activities. The association’s board works closely with the organizing team and maintains contact with cooperation partners, institutions, and authorities. The association’s goal is to promote queer (film) culture and queer filmmakers. Queer life should be more visible in public and better networked within queer groups and organizations in Bremen and the surrounding area. You don’t have to be a member of the association to volunteer.
